Best Pre-Workout for Women

I had always been skeptical of pre-workouts.  I had tried some of my husbands a few years ago; it made my skin crawl and heart feel like it was pounding out of my chest.  Then I started hearing about Energize and how it was different from other pre-workouts on the market.  I tried it and LOVED it.  I’ll share all about it and why women need a pre-workout supplement, if pre-workout drinks really work, and what to expect when you take it.

What Makes Energize Work?*

Beta-Alanine

Beta-Alanine is an amino acid that helps reduce lactic acid buildup in your muscles. When you’re able to reduce the amount of lactic acid in the muscles, you’re able to reduce fatigue and increase endurance during workouts.

This ingredient can also make you feel a little tingly 10-20 minutes after taking it, that’s totally normal.  I actually really enjoy the tingles and it lets me know it’s working and I’m ready to go.

Low-Dose Caffeine (From Green Tea & Coffee Bean Extract)

Low-dose caffeine helps to improve your reaction time and focus, as well as, aid in reducing muscle fatigue. It provides you body and mind extra clarity.

Quercetin

How & When Should You Take It?

You’ll want to take most pre-workout supplements 20-30 minutes before you workout.

With Energize, you’ll do 1-2 scoops depending on your current weight 30 minutes before exercising.  I personally found that it started working in as little as 10 minutes, so play around with how long before your workout you want to take it.

If you are new to taking a pre-workout, I suggest starting with 1/2 to 1 scoop to see how you feel on it.  You should also never take more than 2 scoops per day on any pre-workout supplement.

If you workout early, like I do, I suggest having it handy and ready to go right when your feet hit the floor.  That way it has time to start working while you change clothes and get to your workout.

Will Taking Energize Make It Hard To Sleep?

I have never had a hard time sleeping while taking Energize.  I usually workout at 6AM, but I’ve also worked out at 2PM and still had no issue.

If you workout later in the day or evening, keep in mind that your body has to cool off naturally.  This can take 4 hours to return to normal on its own… with our without a pre-workout

Everyone is a little different so you may want to play with your pre-workout on a weekend when you can see how it will affect you.

With that said, Energize won my vote because of the low-dose of caffeine.  It seems to do well for most of my clients and coaches as well.

Will a Pre-Workout Make Me Jittery?

As I mentioned above, I had tried some of my husbands pre-workouts before finding Energize and they all made my heart pound, feel jittery, and made my skin crawl.

However, I don’t find that with Energize.  Everyone is different though, so my recommendation is to start with 1/2 a scoop at first and see how you do.

You may also want to limit your caffeine around when you take your pre-workouts, so no coffee plus pre-workout in the morning.
